Logical Illogic
The project contains three parts: The Dream Block, Translation, and process posters. The work reflects the logical illogic, which is a theory of dream—what we thought as the illogical garbled was created through a logical translation.
The Dream Block
The Dream Block is an accordion booklet which is a collection of sentence and fragment from dreams. They create an illogical and incoherent narratives which based on reading orders. The personal experience and the illogical are the elements appear in dreams.
Translation
Translation is an interactive website that showcases Freud’s dream theory.
Each page contains an excerpt from my research. They are translated into different symbols I created and text that was decoded by using an unintended character encoding. Users can explored them, by moving around the cursor, to figure out the meaning of the symbols.
The execution itself reflects the logical illogic which is a theory of dream—what we thought as the illogical garbled was created though a logical translation.
Process Posters
The posters document my design process of each week. They all contain incomplete sentences like the recalling of our dreams after we woke up. The visual elements are an abstract form of the process in the week. The narrow column width for the body text makes the text box as a small piece of memory of dreams.
